Loans Of Up To £25k Available To Improve Buildings

Loans of up to £25,000 to improve properties across the County Borough are now available from Wrexham Council.

The funding is provided as part of a number of initiatives developed in partnership between Wrexham County Borough Council and the Welsh Government to improve the condition of housing across Wales including the ‘Vibrant and Viable Places’ initiative, which applies to the town centre, the ‘Houses Into Homes’ empty property scheme and ‘Homes Improvement Loans’.

The loans are available to landlords and to owners of empty properties and must be used to bring empty homes back into use, improve existing occupied properties or to turn commercial properties into housing.

Applicants can apply for loans of up to £25,000 per self-contained unit up to a maximum of £150,000 (six units). The loans are interest free with very attractive application fees.

Councillor Neil Rogers, Lead Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said: “This is further good news for the town centre and the wider County Borough and is an excellent incentive for landlords and building owners to improve their buildings and in some cases bring them back into residential use.

“Officers have worked hard to bring various initiatives together to revitalise the town centre and this work is now beginning to pay off. Well done to everyone involved.”

In addition to the financial assistance, assistance may also be provided if required to oversee the work including finding contractors.
