In his regular police update Wrexham city Inspector Luke Hughes has praised the justice system after a 49 year old man was arrested and imprisoned following possession of knife – pictured above.‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

As always the informative update details the wider modern policing role, helping people locally with medical emergencies and some social service roles, along with the more normal perception of policing.

The full run down from the local Inspector is below… ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

So, to matters at hand and what’s been occurring in WrexhamCity town in the last 24hrs….. well first I want to draw your attention to the below horrible item located on a male who was stopped by officers yesterday. I confess I nearly didn’t upload the picture as I thought it may damage your perception of safety on the local streets. With that in mind… I want to stress that weapon seizure of this nature are rare indeed, and I know we do exercise our stop search powers appropriately, if they were there we would find a lot more….

Michael Robinson (49) from Ney Court was arrested at around midday yesterday, charged last night with possession of an bladed article. He was remanded and appeared in Wrexham magistrates court this morning – he was subsequently sentenced to an immediate prison sentence of 36 weeks and the weapon will be destroyed. That’s less than 24hrs from arrest to imprisonment…. See you in nine months Michael… a deterrent to anyone that should consider it… thank you to the courts for sending such a strong message.

What follows is the usual 24hr summery, the end of the week fast approaches and I regret to inform you its going to be a little wet… and so it begins… the wet school holiday of doom… mum I’m bored… noooooooooooo.

08:22hrs – Suspicious vehicle sighted in Norman Road – occupants appear to be delivering leaflets in the area, no offences disclosed, but good intelligence should something develop.

11:47hrs – Suspicious male sighted on Chester Road – Weapon seized male arrested & charged.

13:56hsr – Cilcen Grove – report of a domestic incident in the street – officers attend promptly but all parties have left.

13:57hrs – Report of a fire in the waste ground between Waterworld and the old police station site. Officers attend with Fire service – it turns out to be a BBQ and someone cooking a spot of lunch. Advice given.

17:59hrs – Report from a resident on Central Ave – he has just noticed a small fire apparently deliberately started and advised us in case of anyone in the areas is getting up to mischief. This may be linked to a later report when a named child has caused issues at a location nearby, officers will be following up.

19:00hrs – Report of an attempt to gain entry to an outbuilding on Sutton Drive, caller unsure when this could have happened. No entry gained, nothing stolen. Exercise a little caution in this area please, just in case.

19:13hrs – Shoplifting reported at a supermarket on Ruthin Road. CCTV to be reviewed.

20:38hrs – Report of issues at the Powel Road Subway, a gathering of persons causing some upset – location will be monitored and is actually part of a local project by the Mini police to freshen it up (thank you Wickes for the paint) and also improve lighting. I note the callers concerns regarding lack of action, but I have seen very few reports at this location, however we are now aware.

21:21hrs – Report of a fight in the carpark of a superstore adjacent to Crescent Road, CCTV seized and arrests to be made. You do not conduct yourselves like that in plain view of members of the public and not suffer the consequences… disgraceful behaviour.

04:02hrs – Report that a member of the public that they have been approached by some teenagers, including a young girl who admits to having “borrowed” her mother’s car and subsequently they have run out of petrol….. Mum I fear is unaware of this arrangement and is unlikely to have allowed her 15 year old daughter to use the vehicle at this time of night…..officers attend and locate four suspects and one car…. Awkward conversation ensues when they are returned home and the matter will be followed up. No damage noted to the vehicle thankfully…. Not impressed folks.. think of the consequences.

And so ends another day in paradise.

Have a great evening folks.
