Wrexham’s Inspector Luke Hughes has called out the owners of St Mark’s carpark in the city centre for the site being untidy and ‘in need of a good scrub’.

The Inspector notes the scruffy nature of the carpark is ‘not really in keeping with the image we are cultivating’.

The comments came in the now regular update from the local policing team that covers a snapshot 24 hours in the local area.

The Inspector also appears in favour of the news this morning that McDonalds is looking to open a ‘dark kitchen’ in Rhosddu, calling it a ‘great result’ as it will move delivery driver traffic from Egerton Street elsewhere.

As always the full update is below…

Afternoon all

Well, its was wet but not too bad after all… in fact dry enough for me to leave the station this afternoon and have a walk about, the first chance I’ve had for a few weeks.

I was really pleased to see the High Street looking very tidy having had some attention, bollards in place by the Wynnstay (road now closed Friday & Saturday evenings) which is being very well received by the majority. The pavements and steps also clearly having had a jet wash too, great to see some pride in the streets.

What was rather untidy and in need of a good scrub was the rear of St Marks Car Park which had weeds and graffiti everywhere including what look like some crudely drawn large ice cream cones with two scoops of ice-cream each, or maybe space ships? …. Actually now that I think about it… possibly an attempt to draw rather large graffiti penises… but the artist in serious need of practice… its not exactly a complex design!… hopefully the owners will do something about this as its not really in keeping with the image we are cultivating…

I`m also really quite excited about what had been reported in the local media today, this in relation to the proposed “delivery kitchen” of a certain fast-food restaurant moving out of the city centre.

When that venue was built on Regent Street it was never anticipated it would turn into one of the top five busiest delivery locations in the county (or so I am advised). So to be able to divert all that traffic away from the City Centre means it will be far less congested and surely will also be far better for the delivery drivers themselves. It’s a great result and I’m grateful to all those involved in pushing this forward, thank you.

What follows is your 24hrs report until 7am this morning – have a great night.

07:30hrs – Reports of a rather animated male using choice language on Percy Road – Officers attend and can not locate the angry man, no further reports received, may have woken up on the wrong side of the bed.

08:56hrs – Y Wern – Reports of an overnight lurker, possibility of someone trying a front door / gate at around 1am, CCTV appears to show an arm emerge over a gate and try to unlock the bolt. Why are the angry dogs never in the right back gardens! – please note we may have an opportunist about – please don`t leave items of value that could realistically be secured in gardens overnight.

12:00hrs – Parking dispute – Town Hill – motorist has challenged another for parking on double yellow lines, when pointed out they are not allowed to park there the other driver simple shrugged said tough and walked off… officer attend and provide “advice”….

12:59hrs – Concerns for a young female – located safe and well taken to place of safety.

13:23hrs – Concerns for an adult female – located safe and well taken to place of safety.

15:07hrs – Concerns for an adult female – located safe and well.

16:15hrs – Theft of alcohol (high value) Plas Coch retail park – CCTV review pending.

17:39hrs – Excitable male Gwenfro appears rather upset– apparently wearing an Everton top.. not sure if that was a reason for his distress, but area search failed to locate the male.

17:56hrs – Report of shoplifting Island green – named suspect chased by security staff – items recovered.

19:32hrs – Concerns for an adult female – located safe and well taken to place of safety.

19:50hrs – Concerns for a female child – located and taken to place of safety.

20:38hrs – Call from staff at a supermarket to advise that have witnessed an individual deliberately ram a trolly into a parked vehicle….. so frustrating, what a pointless and selfish act – I hope the CCTV will lead to identification.

21:20hrs – Report of ASB at the bus station – a location that had shown significant improvement (a blip I hope) – named suspect causing issues with local staff – plans already in place to interview regarding matters already under investigation. I`m advised he is 13 years old… a crucial time in his life where decisions made may significantly affect his future. I hope he starts making wiser choices as to how to behave, but its not looking positive at the moment.

23:55hrs – Reports of a missing male – located sae & well.

No further issues of note.
