On and off snow falls along with freezing temperatures overnight has meant a slippy start for many in the Wrexham area.

Light snow fell on and off through the night after a flurry of heavier snow just after 1am.

Temperatures are due to remain low until mid morning before a climb to a whole 4C as the cold spell starts to pass.

A yellow weather warning for ice is in place until 11am, which also warns of ‘wintery showers’.

Across Wrexham the conditions are icy this morning, with last night’s brief snow flurry freezing overnight.

Cllr David A Bithell Lead Member Environment and Transport said: “Our crews have been gritting during the night on our priority gritting routes, although side roads and untreated roads and footpaths are very icy and extra care should be taken.

“Our crews this morning are being re-manned due to the frozen/rain and weather conditions and will be deployed back on our priority gritting routes throughout the day.”

Despite the gritting taking place there has been complaints that many roads and pathways across Wrexham are particularly icy.
