Hundreds of participants have completed Nightingale Hose Hospice’s 5k and 10k Charity Run.

The event, which took place at Alyn Waters on Saturday 30 March, drew in a diverse crowd of runners and spectators who were all united in their support for the invaluable services that the local hospice provides.

Held in partnership with OutFit Personal Fitness Ltd the race brought together over 400 participants and their supporters at Alyn Waters County Park, for a memorable day of running, community spirit and generosity.

Among the participants was Tracy Hughes, who described her experience completing the Alyn Waters course as her inaugural 10k and first-ever running event.

“I saw the event advertised when I went to Caffi Cwtch at the hospice and signed up,” said Tracy.

“I thought the event was really well-marshalled.

“The support and encouragement during the day were fantastic. I think I’ve got the bug to do it again.

“The hospice is well-loved in the community, and people want to support the work they do.”

Attendees were treated to a variety of entertainment, complete with food vendors, games, and various other stalls, creating an ideal day out for the Easter weekend.

People from all over the community came to take part in the run, including several Wrexham Police Officers, Helen Ryvar, who completed the 10k course as part of her 700th consecutive daily half marathon, and members of 1st Johnstown Scout Group took part in the 1k children’s dash.

Overall, 408 people registered for the 5k and 10k runs, which was an overwhelming response to the hospice’s first running event since 2022.

Elise Jackson, Event and Campaigns Manager at Nightingale House said: “We are thrilled by the incredible turnout and support for the first Alyn Waters 5k & 10k run.

“All proceeds go towards supporting patients at Nightingale House Hospice.

“The participation and generosity of all those who attended have truly made a difference.”
