Wrexham County Borough Council is to carry out pruning works to one of the most prominent trees in the Town Centre. The Horse Chestnut Tree near the Wrexham Library entrance has become decayed and the pruning works are necessary for safety reasons.

Cllr David Bithell Lead Member for Environment and Transport said: “We would not be carrying out this work if it was not needed. The work will enable us to keep the tree a while longer and reduce the risk of it falling over in stormy weather.

“The only other alternative would have been to remove the tree completely”.

The works to the tree which is protected by a Tree Preservation Order have been approved by Planning.

The works will involve reducing the height and spread of the tree. The work will be carried out on a Sunday to minimise disruption to the use of the town centre.
