Heavy rain and storms hit Wrexham overnight – with more forecast throughout today
There was thunder, lighting and heavy rain over Wrexham overnight – with more expected throughout this afternoon.
A yellow weather warning from the Met Office remains in place until 11:59pm this evening and it is expected to bring more flash flooding across parts of the county borough.
In the early hours of this morning Wrexham was hit with torrential rain and a storm, causing difficulty on the roads for those heading out and about.
There has been flooding and standing water in the usual spots this morning, including the Lemon Tree Roundabout, bottom of Pandy hill and the Gresford Roundabout.
Take care on Gresford roundabout! Or take a boat… @wrexham

We’ve also been sent this video from Chloe of lightning hitting a car in Coedpoeth.
Visitors to the Rock the Park Concert taking place across the weekend are being asked to check the Facebook page for updates on the event. A full statement and advice for visitors can be found on Facebook and we imagine there will be further updates during the day.
Rock The Park event is still going ahead, with organisers saying “Your safety is paramount and we are constantly working with all local agencies and health and safety consultants to ensure everyone attending will do so safely.”
There are further storms due later today, and organisers have said: “ It has forecast lighting later, while this doesn’t pose a threat to the public attending it may mean we have to delay some acts by 10min or so,so please bear with us with that.”
40mph+ winds have been forecast for tomorrow, with some events cancelled locally as a result. Organisers added “Saturday has given extremely strong winds and If you are camping onsite, please ensure you bring extra tent pegs and weights. Worst case scenario we may have to delay some of the acts and change the stages around, again we will keep you updated on this.”
Current Met Office forecasts show more rain from midday, which could again turn into thundery showers. A separate weather warning for strong winds is also in place across the area for tomorrow.
