An elderly woman was taken to hospital after collapsing in the road close to Mecca Bingo in Wrexham.

Initial reports suggested that she had been hit by a car, however North Wales Police have since confirmed that no vehicles were involved.

Eyewitnesses reported that she fell by the one way system by Eagles Meadow on Smithfield Road at around 12.45pm.

Ed Jones (@edjoneshanmer) told us: “A lady has collapsed or been knocked down by a car on the one way near Mecca & KFC. Awaiting emergency services.”

Ambulance crews and police were quick to arrive on the scene.

AD Cleaning Services tweeted in the above picture.

Traffic queued back past the Tesco roundabout for over half an hour whilst emergency services assisted the lady.

She was later taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
