‘Distressing Incident’ After Three Men in White Van Approach Young Girl
An appeal for information has been launched following a report of three men in a van approached a young girl in Wrexham early this morning.
Police were alerted this morning, Thursday November 16 to a report that a white box van had pulled up on Norfolk Road in front of a 12-year-old girl on her way to school.
One of the men is understood to have got out of the vehicle and made his way towards the child who ran off to a place of safety. The suspect then returned in the direction he had come from.
No contact was made and the child was unharmed.
DS Anne Louise Jones said: “This was clearly a distressing incident for the young girl and fortunately she came to no harm.
“I am appealing to anyone who saw a white box van in the Norfolk Road area at around 8.15am, or who saw any suspicious behaviour to contact police on 101 quoting reference U174144.”
A text has also been issued from Borras Park Infants School, saying: “Police advise attempted child abduction has been reported in the area.
“Please be extra vigilant and we ask you to escort your child to and from school”
We have also been told that a similar text has been sent out to parents of children in Barkers Lane School.
