Coronavirus testing centre to remain in Wrexham for six months
A coronavirus testing centre in Wrexham is to remain in place until next spring.
The facility, which is based in the Memorial Hall on Bodhyfryd, opened to the public on Thursday 15 October.
It has now been confirmed that the testing centre at the Memorial Hall will remain in place for the next six months to provide “convenient local testing” into spring 2021.
The facility is the first long-term testing centre that Wrexham has had.
There has been some confusion over how the facility works with the earlier booking system referring to it as a “drive-thru”. This has prompted a warning from the council that this is a “drive-to” testing centre – you cannot drive-thru the Memorial Hall.
People are also required to book a test beforehand, which can be done on the Welsh Government website or via the NHS Covid-19 app on your phone.
While you’re waiting for a test or your results, you are of course asked to follow the self-isolation guidance on the Welsh Government website.
If you do test positive, you’ll be given advice by contact tracers at Wrexham Council. They will advise you on how long to isolate for and what support you can get to help you through the isolation period.
Those who have a test booked in before 11am are also required to pay to park in council owned car parks. Free parking is available after that time.
You can pay to park using the JustPark mobile phone app, which can be downloaded via Google Play or App Store
