AM and MP Announce Christmas Card Competition Winner
The winner of a popular Christmas card competition run by Wrexham’s AM and MP has been announced at a special ceremony.
Lesley Griffiths and Ian Lucas held a prize giving ceremony on Friday 4th December at St Margaret’s Church Hall in Garden Village.
School children across Wrexham were invited to come up with their best festive designs and an overall winner was selected to be made into the Wrexham politicians’ Christmas card.
All the designs were judged by Wrexham FC manager Gary Mills, who picked a top three for each individual school, as well as an overall top three.
In third place was Elisa Wheeler from St Christopher’s School. Vlad Bucutea of Victoria CP School was second and the overall winner was Patryk Sitarz from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.
Many local businesses sponsored the event, including Dee Valley Water, DTCC, Moneypenny, Nu Instruments Ltd, Pendine Park, Rowan Foods, Trackyou Ltd, Wockhardt UK Ltd and Tesco, and some were in attendance on the day.
The prizes were kindly provided by Kellogg’s and the cards have been printed by Bentley Printers in Wrexham.
The Christmas cards will be sent to local groups, organisations and community leaders as well as colleagues and associates in Cardiff and Westminster respectively.
Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths said: “We had some fantastic entries this year and with the standards so high, it was almost impossible to pick a winner.”
“I think Gary chose well and I would like to congratulate Patryk on his winning design. His acrobatic penguins are certainly full of festive fun and cheer.”
“I would also like to thank all the companies that sponsored the competition – their support has been invaluable.”
Ian Lucas MP added: “The Christmas card prize giving was a perfect way to kick off the festive season. I’d also like to add my thanks to all those involved – these cards will be seen round the world and their work on this competition, whether it is organising, sponsoring, judging or participating – really helps.”
