An incident on the A55 westbound just after the ‘Posthouse’ roundabout at the top of the A483 is causing traffic problems this afternoon.

The A55 is was closed westbound after the incident, as emergency crews conduct a recovery operation which has been described to us as ‘tricky’, however there is now (3:30pm) traffic flowing westwards.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue have described the incident saying “A saloon car that had gone down an embankment on the A483 slip road of the A55 required firefighters to attend. Two people were stuck in their vehicle and needed help getting out due to its precarious position. Police also attended and closed the road.”

The resulting tailbacks are affecting traffic to the top end of the Wrexham bypass and old Wrexham Road, plus those looking to come south out of and around Chester. The above picture was sent to Wrexham.com by a reader from the A55 eastbound just outside of Chester, saying “It is just about moving, but very stop start after being entirely stopped for a good while”.

Traffic as of 3:30pm is backed up to a near standstill northbound on the A483 from the Rossett interchange, which the below traffic map illustrates:

The earlier incident, now cleared from the A55, created the following issues earlier this afternoon:

People have taken to twitter to document their slow progress around the area:
