X you missed out the details of where all the additional rubbish goes from the article:

But resident Aloma Wheway said fly-tipping had increased since the change.

“We haven’t got much of a choice but you see more waste – black bags full of things – dumped all over the place,” she said.

“Some people find it okay but families are really struggling because they have more waste.”

The mother-of-two, who said she embraces recycling, claimed many residents were burning their own waste to avoid the smell.

The council pointed to figures showing general waste accounted for 25% of the illegally dumped waste in November 2018 – up from 22% in 2017.

So it means Conwy council failed to get 12% of its waste into landfill and means it was left strewn all over the county instead or left polluting the air.
There are no names mentioned in this article but 99.9% of Wrexham people will know who the culprits are. I have been verbally abused by the ‘Mother’ and my children have been pestered for their mobile phones (yes I did report it).

Only six weeks ago Ian Lucas offered this family his support in finding them a permanent residence. Some people are just beyond help. It just shows how out of touch Mr Lucas is and only goes to endorse his decision to stand down.
I suggest permanent residence on the island of Rockall – an uninhabitable granite islet in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the United Kingdom.

£30,000 spent to punish homeless from seeking shelter in the coldest winter months of the year – absolutely brutal.

You can add this to the £22,000 spend on resurfacing the council worker car park and both of those make up a whopping £52,000 – which is more than they hoped to save a year by imposing once every three week bin collections for the entire county.

All of these pet projects are being funded by council tax payers as well, who are getting no services, no quality of schooling, no quality of social healthcare – closure of everything. Watch the council tax go up next year, watch them take delight in spending your money on utter bullshit projects.

You have to wonder how much longer people are willing to take this from an unaccountable Independent Cabal. These clowns are in until 2022 and foolish people will just not turn up on election day to vote them out (some lunatics will vote for them) and they’ll get in again and rinse the general public for another 5 years.
‘Ignore’ rather than ‘discard,’ I don’t think they go quite that far just yet.
I Will be interested to know – how with the reduction of black/blue bin collection from fortnightly to once every 3 weeks – they will be able to ignore the mounting rubbish that people are just expected to suddenly reduce in their general waste.

Annual Black/Blue bin lifts will reduce from 26 down to 17 – which means 9 full black bins worth of rubbish either has to suddenly be reduced from households or disposed of elsewhere at cost to the household itself.

For some delusional reason the Executive Board Councillors are under the firm belief that people are under-recycling and putting recycling into black bins and that they’ll just start recycling and the additional waste will go away just like that. The fact of the matter is, when you go round areas on bin collection day it is obvious that people are religiously recycling with full tubs of plastic/cans and glass waste. Also noticing a lot more kerbside caddies for food waste out these days.

So people have been recycling for years and even with all the recycling done religiously – large families struggle with the amount of waste even before a fortnight is up. Some savvy people will be able to get their waste downb but it’s not as easy as that with the ridiculous amount of non recyclable packaging that comes from the supermarket etc… Those with vehicles will just go to the skip more and make it their burden to sort general waste and that will knock down the county’s precious recycling rate at these locations significantly. Then those who are better off will pay a private firm to do an additional lift at £15 a time.

This leaves the less well off who don’t have a car and can’t afford to pay a private firm to get rid of excess waste – they will have 3 choices if they are unable to reduce waste:

    1) Burn rubbish – I see incinerator bins are popular in supermarkets this time of year – this will just pollute the county further and create bad odours, which ironically reducing bin collections was meant to reduce emissions and air pollution.

    2) Fly tip and overload public bins – both illegal, but let’s face it – people will do it and they’ll get away with it.

    3) Let Rubbish build up in the back garden – attracting vermin.

It’s not going to be a good look for the town and they’ll forever make the excuse that Conwy has monthly collections only so aren’t the worst. Shambolic.

Whacked in my response to the consultation today bang on deadline day.

Raised issues over the reduction in bin collections and the absurd suggestion that they are going to further reduce standards of highway maintenance.

Will be interesting to see how many people have bothered to complain about the bins vs the number of people who will get a rude awakening when it gets implemented after not bothering to speak up.

I wasn’t saying that one was more effective than the other. I think that if we question the prospective candidates about ‘the everyday issues ‘, the reply will be ‘It’s devolved.’ Like many others, I just do not know how to vote this time.
Okay got you. I’d feel like if I was fobbed off with the response that such and such is a devolved issue then why aren’t you lobbying the corresponding AMs and ministers in the WAG because these are issues that people care about. It was in regular occasion Ian Lucas would ask a question in Parliament concerning a local issue. He was also involved in the Homeless Gold Group locally.

Likewise you get the same value back from Susan Elan Jones – she knows her constituents and the area’s shortcomings inside and out. The concern is that a candidate a bit wet behind the ears trying to blame things on devolution whether they be Lib Dems or Tory or Brexit Party will come across as weak. Because you can bet your last quid that Plaid Cymru will also be aware of the local issues and not be scared of tackling a devolved issue – so that they can at least match Labour on policy and issue awareness.

Most of the issues that affect everyday life are devolved anyway.
The austerity preventing enough money being spent on many of these issues is driven down directly from Westminster. As whenever funds are allocated on spends for England, Wales then gets the equivalent measures through the Barnett formula.

Also if you think that your local MP is less effective than your AM then you must be joking. Can anyone remember one of our AMs doing anything up North for anything other than a photo opp?
Perhaps now that Ian Lucas is no longer the MP for Wrexham, we can reflect on his contribution to a recent debate in the House of Commons which will explain the reason for him not supporting the result of the referendum or the peoples vote, call it what you like. Perhaps he knew the real story all along….

Problem is – to those who want Brexit the legality/illegality of the Leave campaign means nothing to them in terms of getting the goal they are after. It is no different the world over – wilful political blindness over corruption and even killings if it means their particular political viewpoint is allowed to succeed.

It’s not even anything new in this country – so many people supported and cheered on the killings and deaths of soldiers and civilians in the internationally illegal Iraq war. Because the likes of Blair and Bush backed by the mainstream media were able to use language and bravado that could justify it. In many ways the deception over Brexit is tame in comparison, but it doesn’t make it any more or less savoury.

This is just how the world works – the powerful bias the present and historical views of events to favour them. Remember when Russia took the Crimea region and killed lots of Ukrainians, remember the brutality in Catalonia stopping their right to self determination. Most people forget as they are cowed to do so, or it is just not important enough in their lives to be affected by it.

Woah – way to have all the fun sucked out of the thread. Why is there a sense of oversensitivity that you aren’t allowed to poke fun out of prospective politicians and it must be all serious mass debate, mass debate, mass debate happening all the time.

You only need to look at this country and we have always satirised and mocked politicians going right back to the formation of Parliament. To have making fun made illegal of politicians then we would perhaps consider ourselves citizens of an oppressed country like North Korea.

The lad himself hasn’t said his feelings are hurt – a youthful look is a compliment 9 out of 10 times. No reason to take offence on his behalf.

Quite frankly whether or not he looks like Baby Face Finlayson plays second fiddle to the fact that in the article – aside from wanting to Remain in Europe. He mentions NOTHING WHATSOEVER about what he is going to do for the Good people of Clwyd South. So if he gets voted in what does he know of any other Non-Brexit key policy issues that affect us on a daily basis – such as the NHS, failing schools, brutal cuts to public services, lack of provision in social care for the elderly and disabled. The continued closure of services in rural areas and reduction of public transport, a lack of jobs and opportunities for young people and also older people who have recently been made redundant – like the closure of Tomlinson’s Dairy in Coedpoeth.

That’s where he is going to get absolutely hammered on the doorsteps when he comes round to the likes of Cefn, Plas Madoc, Rhos, Penycae, Brymbo, New Broughton etc… He’s going to harp on Just about the single issue of Brexit and Remain and quite frankly people aren’t going to be interested.

Interesting that no Gill now. Wonder if Brexit Party will field another candidate or step aside for Tories.
