Well that’s interesting it’s 8pm on Christmas Eve and there are only 35 people in A&E. Haven’t seen a number that low before.

Made me think that maybe some people go to A&E when it’s not a true emergency.

Think we all should be extremely grateful to all the staff working in A&E not just over Christmas and New Year, but through out the year. They have no idea what they are going to face each day or even how many colleagues they will have to work beside them. A&E is nothing with out the doctors and nurses . Use it wisely and only when you really need it and don’t forget curtesy costs nothing. Thank you all, the public appreciates all you do under the most difficult circumstances at times.

Less activity on a Christmas Eve. Majority of people had the day off so less accidents.

The statistics show how much pressure there is on our A&E on a daily basis ,and yet in the first four days of the New Year 2024 there has been planning for over 550 new homes in the city. This is in addition to those already under construction but yet to be occupied. Each application ignores the effect on our hospital. Planning conditions include ,green space , signalling light system at Stansty and Forge level crossings at £120,000, road improvements, but no mention of money for our hospital. The old tax office development for Out Patient use by patients at the Maelor Hospital is as yet unfinished because of lack of money so there is an opportunity for developers to fund.

There is a saturation point between building new houses and health provision and we must be very close to it already before these new developments begin.

Yes, the forecast is for 10 million (net) more people in the UK by 2100 all needing health care, as you say something has got to give at some point

    January 8th 9.15 pm waiting time up to 18hours 15 minutes …105 patients .

From day to day there is a big difference in the number of patients in A&E , it must be very difficult to staff a department with such fluctuations. Is there provision to bring in extra staff when the number of patients is high?

Friday 12th January 6.20 pm and 85 patients waiting in A&E and for the first time the wait is over 20 hours 45 minutes !

Worrying so early on a Friday night with GP’s surgeries only just closed.
