wrexviewParticipantThe recording of Council Meetings should provide a primary historical resource for future generations. The Welsh Assembly have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds across Wales to get this project up and running only for Wrexham Council to decide the recordings will be removed from the Council Website after six months. One of the best uses of the Internet is the ability to easily refer back to previously published data, by removing the recordings after a mere six months this will be impossible. Ideally all the recordings should be held nationally for posterity and be freely available for reference. If Councillors truly believe Webcasting will help them engage with the public then the meetings should be permanently available.

johnhoppyParticipantThe more you follow these forums, the more it seems. that Wrexham CBC want to hide information from us. They seem to treat us like children who only need to know what they deem that it is necessary for us know.
Decisions are presented to us under the pretence of consultations (e.g. Plas Madoc and Waterworld) when the decisions have been made already.
Surely if the debates and committees of the Houses of Parliament are freely available the meetings of our local council should also be so.

99DylanJonesParticipantPerhaps an intersesting development would be to enable those who are watching a web broadcast to vote on the Council proposals before the Council Members so that they can gauge the public views. I appreciate that there may be a limited number of people viewing but it is another means of engagement.
Alternatively Wrexham .com should use voting technology on their site more to gauge the public view on what the Council are doing.May 20, 2014 at 5:01 pm #67897
wrexviewParticipantToday’s Mayor making would have been a good first webcast meeting. If Eric Pickles gets his way by next year anyone will be able to film the event.

99DylanJonesParticipantWere all the Councilors present at Mayor making as it appears many empty seats in your photo of chamber

DRParticipantWe counted 32 Councillors. There was quite a long apologies for absence at the start of the ceremony though!

99DylanJonesParticipantWas this political voting with their feet so that those against the Mayor would not attend. Does it also mean that if they don’t accept the Mayoral process that they wont respect the role when the Mayor is the Chairman of the Full Council meetings tomorrow evening.
This type of voting with feet also occurs when there is the annual Civic Service when most of the Councilors from the opposition parties don’t attend. They cant say it is because it is a Christian service as other faiths and denominations are included.
I assume all of those Councilors who didn’t attend this evening due to not agreeing with the costs of the Mayoral office have all taken their full Council allowance and increase this year. Hypocritical would be an understament.
20 Council members not attending== as they are all paid in the basic allowance for events such as Mayor making are they all now going to donate their allowance from this evening to charity. Lets see how many will do this..

wrexviewParticipantThey used to have Mayor Making in the afternoon followed by the Full Council Meeting in the evening at 6.30pm. Perhaps splitting it across two days has affected attendance.

99DylanJonesParticipantIt would be interesting if Wrexham.com did a poll of the non attenders to see what their real reason was.

wrexviewParticipantWe were told that the July Exe Board would be the first meeting that would be broadcast live.It now appears it will not be broadcast live due to technical difficulties. They are going to record it and upload it later so the only problem appears to be the “live” bit. Any ideas what the problem could be ?
