“If any of you knew the day to day of the hospital you’d know that this issue is almost fully at the feet of local Health Board its because of them things like Glyndwr nursing students have to train or have work placements in Cheshire even though there are almost 100 nursing positions available because the board decided that only Bangor nursing students can train and do placements there. That’s just one of many stupid things this health board is responsible for.”

This is quoted from the A&E waiting time thread.

If this is true then our local AM ,MP, Wrexham Councillors, media and public should lobby Health Board Members to allow our Glyndwr students to have placements here in Wrexham. If students train in the local hospital they is a better chance they may take a permanent position here.

I fully support the idea of student nurses from Wrexham traininnbg at the Maelor. I think there may be a mistake in the thread as Bangor I believe is now the school of nursing not Glyndwr

They are both under the same umbrella of Bangor but maybe Bangor provides students for the North Wales hospitals and the Glyndwr students have to take placements in Cheshire. Perhaps someone can clarify the situation. Hopefully local students do have placements in their local hospital and take up some of the vacancies when they qualify.
