I often go out on my modest powered motorbike down into Glyn Ceriog and up over the top to Llangollen, however as a local I stay on tarmac and stoned roads.
It upsets me to see the damage caused by road vehicles to the gorse and hillsides by irresponsible drivers seeking that thrill of off-roading. Self policing will not work.
Like on the Llantysilio side, we were asked to liaise with the local rural police and call in should we witness damage, noting number plates, dates and times.
It is unfortunate that in todays society with so much access to public information that thrill seekers come to our part of Wales from much of England.
I have read that some come as far as the South coast to have a weekend off-roading on the Berwyns. This is not going to stop unless legislation changes or the council agrees to maintain these public byways to a satisfactory standard that allows all outdoor activities to enjoy our beautiful countryside.
