They were constantly warned of the consequences of taking an undemocratic path. The sad fact for Wimbury was that she also paid the price for the Lucas lack of democracy. Democracy determines that Lucas and Elan-Jones should be immediately confined to history with no presence in future public life.
The major winner of the Election has been Democracy, the cornerstone of our society. Many Tories, Lib-Dems and Labour (former) MP’s have summarily been discarded due to their un-democratic stance and refusal to accept the referendum result, Soubry, Swinson, Gyimah, Umunna & Grieve to name a few of many.
The People have spoken and the one clear message is that Democracy must be upheld.

The deposed MP’s should be un-seated for their stupidity and arrogance. their actions were like a Turkey voting for Christmas. Very apt at this time of year.
Katie: “66.3% of Wakefield voted to leave the EU in the Wakefield district and Mary Creagh completely ignored this because she knew better.”
Darren: “Her comments after the result saying that Labour needed to listen to the people was so deluded and two-faced. If she had of listened, she would still have her seat!”
Ed: “The price you pay when you want the support of the people and think you know what’s better for them and ignore their wishes. Ignoring the Brexit referendum for your own good was your downfall.”
Neil: “Democracy won the day and the electorate voted her out after 14 years , the constituency voted overwhelming for Brexit and she wouldn’t have it.”
Ian: “If you openly disregard the views of the community you represent and are so far out of touch then what do you expect. She brought this about all by herself.”
The lefties have gone very quiet on the forum – mind you, they now have 5 years to think about it !

BigbrotherParticipantOur prime minister has been sacked from two jobs for lying, hid in a fridge to avoid scrutiny, lied continually and constantly so much that a former Conservative prime minister and other big names in the party said to not vote for him, threatened the BBC and Channel 4 over their funding because he didn’t like what they said and is thought of as a joke by many countries that have had dealings with him.
There are over 2,000 new food banks in The UK in the 9 years since the conservatives came into power and over 4 million children live in poverty. Racism and bigotry have escalated since the Brexit vote. This is nothing to be proud of. And yet the regions most affected by austerity voted for him. I really don’t know if the general public are naive or just thick.December 14, 2019 at 12:20 am #178088
AnonymousInactiveMore rhetoric, you say the public are naive or thick. You are as bad as Elan-Jones or Lucas (the Gonner). You,like them, fail to acknowledge that the electorate wield the sword in the way they see fit and not from lefties eyes. Have you considered that it may be what the public want, to pull up the drawbridge, return all non UK criminals to country of origin, to return non-eligible economic migrants. To have eligibility checks at hospitals, to achieve an overall population decline by restricting house building to reduce energy needs and the carbon footprint that everyone has. There is a credible alternative view.

Whether you like it or not, the decent ‘normal’ people completely rejected the Momentum style approach and have spoken with a very clear message. The only party to win the confidence of the people occupies the centre ground, with the Labour extreme left approach, it permits the election of a ‘rightish’ Conservative government as they are nearer to the centre than the extreme left. The decent, working self-reliant people of this union have always rejected the left position, you better get used to it as it will be unerring fact of your whole life.

Couldn’t have put it better myself, and again from a trade unionist, former shop steward and chairman of a union branch…

zingerParticipantIf the people of this country voted in overwhelming numbers for such a bad choice of Prime Minister, what does it say about Corbyn?
Some people use bad language to emphasize their arguments if they feel that they are losing. What they don’t realise is that by using it they lose all credibility.
History teaches us not to make the same mistakes twice. Judge the government on their actions today not from 60 years ago. They may have learned by past mistakes. Let’s hope that the Labour Party learn from theirs. We need a good opposition.
As a country we are going into uncharted territory & mistakes will be made but hopefully we will learn by them & move on.

Children will continue to go hungry and homeless, the homeless will die, disabled people will continue to suffer, but all of that doesn’t matter as long as they have their precious brexit.
