trishParticipantReally??? £30,000. Are they gold plated?? Who was the contractor? Can we find out as this price is astronomical! What an absolute disgrace. There are people in desperate need, no matter what their circumstances or their issues. Should not that money be spent on helping them find a decent refuge? No matter what you think about peoples habits, which are very often a result of a terrible background, we should be seen to be doing our best for them and not spending a ridiculous amount of money on preventing them seeking warmth. Not everyone is a waste of space as some think!!

wrexviewParticipantWhich committee approved this spending and was it recorded in the minutes?

MattParticipant£30,000 spent to punish homeless from seeking shelter in the coldest winter months of the year – absolutely brutal.
You can add this to the £22,000 spend on resurfacing the council worker car park and both of those make up a whopping £52,000 – which is more than they hoped to save a year by imposing once every three week bin collections for the entire county.
All of these pet projects are being funded by council tax payers as well, who are getting no services, no quality of schooling, no quality of social healthcare – closure of everything. Watch the council tax go up next year, watch them take delight in spending your money on utter bullshit projects.
You have to wonder how much longer people are willing to take this from an unaccountable Independent Cabal. These clowns are in until 2022 and foolish people will just not turn up on election day to vote them out (some lunatics will vote for them) and they’ll get in again and rinse the general public for another 5 years.

wrexviewParticipantThe Council Leader didn’t even have an election last time. He was returned unopposed!

TedParticipantEven a National newspaper has latched on to this story.

Absolutely disgusting & yet again another example of wasting money by this Independent ran council!

Councillor XParticipantThe word in Wetherspoons is that an unofficial reason for this was staff and visitors smoking there despite being told not to iN emails.
A smoking shelter would have been a lot cheaper.

There seems to be more sense talked in Wetherspoons than the Guildhall.

JaneJParticipantJimbow and Councillor X both of you spot on – the gates have been put up to save the staff complianing yet in some instances that are the ines who have been involved in keeping them on the streets– there is just no compassion from Council staff and Members– they should rember most people could become homeless after missing three wage packets..

I know – council staff need to determine if they’re next on the chopping block by reading over the Difficult Decisions consultation.
