Wrexham FC Players On Strike Due To Unpaid Wages

This article is old - Published: Thursday, Jul 28th, 2011

Early on Thursday afternoon an announcement was placed on the Colwyn Bay website stating tonights game had been called off by Wrexham at short notice. This was soon followed by a statement on Wrexham FC’s official site saying the game had ‘postponed due to internal issues at the Racecourse‘.

Wrexham.com sources have said that management have spoken to players and some staff to tell them not to expect wages to be paid, and that they do not need to turn up to training until further notice.

Players are reportedly concerned about picking up injuries if they play in forthcoming friendlys, with the possible prospect of having to find new clubs in the near future. They do however still have full confidence in the manager Dean Saunders and there is no plans for any player to leave at the moment.
