As 2011 draws to an end, one of the clear success stories in Welsh music has been the conception and establishment of Ross Roberts’ ROPE gigs.

In the past 12 months Ross has brought to Wrexham top acts such as The Charlatans, Silver Apples, Dum Dum Girls, Miles Kane; some of the most exciting emerging artists in S.C.U.M, Joseph Coward, Clout, Novella, Toy, Sulk; as well as underground favourites Electricity in Our Homes, Times New Viking, Crocodiles, and more. ROPE has also staged events in Manchester and London, as well as helm the rise of one of Wales’ finest new acts, The Revolutionary Spirit.

Such an esteemed year deserves a fitting finish, and Ross has hand-picked some of the best acts to grace the ROPE stage, for one more 2011 party, taking place at Central Station on Friday December 9th.

At the top of the bill is a DJ set from The Charlatans legendary front man, Tim Burgess, who expanded his impressive CV this year to include his new O Genesis record label, now one of the most talked about new labels and compared to the likes of Factory, in relation to its ethos and quality of its early output. Tim’s DJ sets are consistently eclectic and joyful, always unearthing some rare gems to cap the night off in style.

Live headliners will be London underground guitar-pop combo, Hatcham Social, playing one of their final gigs before the release of their much-anticipated second album, ‘About Girls’. Support comes from Joseph Coward, The Revolutionary Spirit, and The Joseph Leo Band; all names to keep an eye out for in 2012.

DJ sets and visuals will be provided by the ROPE residents, themselves gaining acclaim for enhancing a truly unique live music experience.

Tickets are £6 and can be purchased in advance from Yales Café Bar, See tickets, Ticketline, HMV Chester, or via phone on 0870 444 5556. They will also be available from all promoters, DJs and local support acts.

Friday December 9th – ROPE presents Tim Burgess {The Charlatans} DJ set, Hatcham Social, Joseph Coward, The Revolutionary Spirit, The Joseph Leo Band – Central Station, Wrexham – Doors: 7:30pm – £6 ticket – Ages 14+ welcome.
