An all-ability cycling charity will host a special ‘Pedal Power’ parade this summer thanks to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Wrexham-based Cycling 4 All, which delivers the cycling service at Alyn Waters country park, will hold the event to coincide with Bike Week between June 10 – 16.

“The Pedal Power Parade” will feature a trail of decorated bikes displayed around the park, decorated by local community groups, charity’s, schools, and businesses.

Taking place during Bike Week at Alyn Waters Country Park, the aim of the parade is to bring the local community together walking or biking to discover all the transformed bikes for their wellbeing and promoting environmental sustainability and sustainable transport.

The parade aims to offer a perfect opportunity to get outdoors and get active, to celebrate and support creativity, and connect people with others in the community.

Cycling 4 All will be working with partner charities Refurbs and Groundwork North Wales to access bikes that have been unable to be refurbished for reuse to be used for the parade reducing waste sent to landfill.

Hanna Clarke, Project Lead for the Pedal Power Parade said: “We are looking forward to the local community getting creative and decorating a bike that would have otherwise ended up in landfill.

“The Pedal Power Parade will provide an exciting opportunity to promote the need for reuse and sustainability in our community, a chance for the community to celebrate and support creativity, getting outdoors and getting active”.

Local community groups, charity’s, schools, and businesses are all invited to decorate a bike however they wish incorporating the message of reuse and sustainability.

It is free of charge to get involved and decorate a bike; businesses that want to get involved can make a charitable donation to Pedal Power if they wish.

As well as getting community groups, charity’s, schools, and businesses to decorate bikes we will be holding several community workshops where people can drop in and help decorate bikes for the parade.

  • Ty Pawb Family Art Club: Saturday 18th May 10.00 am – 12.00 pm
  • Alyn Waters Country Park: Tuesday 28th May 11.00 am – 2.00 pm
  • Alyn Waters Country Park: Thursday 30th May 11.00 am – 2.00 pm

Further workshops to be confirmed.
