A man has been arrested after a domestic incident and an assault on two police officers.

A “large police presence” was seen in Johnstown this morning with NWP Wrexham Rural confirming that they had attended the scene following reports of a “domestic incident”.

Police say that the male also assaulted two police officers before fleeing from the scene.

In a statement on social media, a spokesperson for NWP Wrexham Rural said: “Many of you will have seen a large police presence in the Johnstown area this morning.

“This was due to a domestic incident whereby a male went on to assault two police officers before running away from the scene.

“The male was located down the side of a house after garden hopping before being arrested.

“Whilst en route to custody, the male has damaged a police vehicle for which he has been further arrested.

“He is now in Llay Custody where he will have to answer for his actions.

“The officers are both alright after having a brew and have suffered cuts, bumps and bruises.

“We would like to thank members of the public who assisted officers during their search this morning, pointing them in the direction of where the male was seen running.”
