Wrexham AFC Women midfielder Lili Jones was named Genero Adran Premier Young Player of the Season at the FAW National Game Awards.

Midfielder Jones, 18, was an ever-present in the league this season, as Wrexham finished third in their first season in the top flight.

Wrexham born and bred, Jones’ fine season also included a memorable long-range goal at the STōK Cae Ras against Swansea. She scored twice in total in the league and contributed seven assists.

Having become of the Club’s first semi-pro footballers in the summer, former Wales Under-17 international Jones – who can also play in defence and further afield – has stepped up to be a driving force in midfield in the top flight.

On winning the award, she said: “It’s amazing to be voted for the award, especially in my first season in the Genero Adran Premier.

“I’ve set my standards high now, so I have to build on it for next season.

“You can see the difference in quality in the top flight, but also with us taking the step to semi-pro, standards have been raised everywhere – in training, travelling down South etc.

“Everyone’s hearts and heads are in it, and it means more to these girls. We’re ready to go and win some silverware next season!”
