Johnstown community to celebrate its Christmas Lights Switch On

A local community will be getting in the festive spirit this week as part of its Christmas Lights Switch On.

The annual Johnstown event, at St Mary’s Church on Merlin Street, will feature more than 20 stalls and Santa’s Grotto.

The festivities will take place on Friday 24 November from 5:30pm.

As part of the event Santa’s Sleigh will be travelling down the High Street after leaving the Vauxhall Industrial Estate.

Also on offer will be hot food, mince pies, crafts and a raffle.

Pupils from the Ysgol Yr Hafod choir will also be at the event singing Christmas carols.

Cllr David A Bithell Chair of the Committee said: “Our annual lights switch on hopefully brings communities together and raises money for local community groups.”

A road closure will be in place from 5.30 until 8.30 from the junction of Offa Street to the junction of chapel Street. (access for residents maintained).

This event is supported by Rhos Community Council, Fry fresh and Quantum Traffic Management.
