Credit has been given to Wrexham’s CCTV operators for helping identify and locate a man who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of shop lifting offences.

Wrexham Inspector Rob Stevenson, who is filling in for Luke Hughes, detailed ‘another good day in the city’ in the now regular local policing updates.

As usual the full info is below:

Good afternoon 👋🏼,
I am glad to report another good day in the city, with very few calls for service yesterday morning, but the pace soon picked up in the afternoon.
🧼 12.26 – Remember the report of cleaning product thefts yesterday? One person was arrested on suspicion of theft today and other offences across the county.
❗ A second person thought they’d try their luck by stealing eight bottles of vodka from Tesco. They are actively being sought as a result.
🚙💥15.24 – Minor injury traffic collision on Kingsmills Road, no requirement for medical attention at scene. Hope everyone is ok.
👮🏽 15.48 – Earlier in the day, we had intelligence that a male wanted on suspicion of nine shoplifting offences across the county would be paying us a visit in the city centre. Great spot by Wrexham CCTV operators who located the male, which led to his arrest, charge and remand to court.
Shoplifting is not a victimless crime. Not only do the losses increase everyone’s shopping bills, but the staff who work in retail shouldn’t have to feel anxious or intimidated coming into work through the fear of thieves.
🔵 16.19 – Call made about concerns for an adult male who had not been seen by family for a couple days. Following enquiries, he was later found to have passed away. No suspicious circumstances found, our thoughts go out to family and friends.
🚔 17.01 – Shoplifting at Sports Direct, where teenagers are reported to have entered and stolen several items of clothing. Male stopped on the outskirts of the city where property was recovered.
👮🏻‍♂️ 21.55 – Arrest made for a domestic related incident at an address the city centre. Initially, the suspect tried to evade arrest by seeking refuge in a loft but realising he had nowhere to go, other than to a cell in Llay custody, he soon came down. They remained with us overnight for the matter to be fully investigated, with an interview was arranged for this afternoon.
🚗 22.14 – Vehicle reported to have been tampered with in the area of Primrose Way, Wrexham earlier in the evening at about 19.40 hours. Description of the suspect has been given as a tall, big build wearing glasses, a Puma jumper and shorts. Witnessed anything suspicious in the area? Get in touch quoting A078114.
The weekend is almost upon us…what will you be up to? Enjoying a nice sunny bank holiday weekend safely and responsibly, or spending it with us? Be wise in your choices, as your fate is in your own hands! 👍🏽
Have a good evening…
Rob
