Chirk’s festive celebrations will kick off in style this Saturday with a day packed full of Christmas activities.

Events will be held across Chirk Town Centre on December 2 as part of the Chirk Frost Fair and the community’s light switch on.

The Chirk Frost Fair, on Colliery Road, will bring together independent traders for an artisan market – along with entertainment and food and drink between midday and 8pm.

Events and activities on offer in Chirk throughout the day include:

  • 10am – 12pm: Chirk Hospital Jumble Sale (Parish Hall)
  • 12pm – 8pm: Chirk Frost Fair (Colliery Road Car Park)
  • 4pm – 5pm: Christmas Crafts (St Mary’s Church)
  • 5pm – Congregational Carol Singing (St Mary’s Church)
  • 5:15pm – Ysgol Y Waun Choir (St Mary’s Church)

From 5:45pm there will be a lantern parade through Chirk, starting from St Mary’s and heading towards The Hand and The Frost Fair.

At 6pm there will be a spectacular fireworks display provided by Chirk Town Council, coordinated alongside the official light switch-on for the town. This will take place at Millennium Gardens.

The festivities will end with late night shopping and entertainment at the Frost Fair – providing the perfect chance to find the ideal Christmas gift and enjoy a mulled wine.

A spokesperson for Fair Event Management, said: “With a full day of entertainment and family activities across the town, visiting the picturesque area is an exciting time.

“From visiting Santa to riding on the festive funfair, it’s a great start to the festive season that’s not to be missed

“We will be open to the public from 12 pm until 8 pm. Enjoy music, food and late-night shopping to kick-start the festive season.”

Chirk Frost Fair is part of a calendar of events which is supported by UKSPF and delivered by Fair Event Management Ltd.
