Car Fire At The Back Of Matalan

Emergency services were called to a car fire in the town centre earlier this afternoon.

At around 3pm this afternoon fire crews were called to a car fire at the rear of Matalan / St Giles car park.

The incident took place during today’s fire fighter strike.

A small crowd gathered to watch the car fire being extinguished, however it is not known how the fire started. ‘Ginger Cat’ sent us the below photo via Twitter.

Black smoke could be seen across the town, with one person sending us the below photo of the view from Eagles Meadow.

The car appeared to have have 100% damage, and as yet there has been no indication to the cause of the blaze.
