An arrest has been made after reports that a man had been seen “brandishing what appeared to be a firearm” in Wrexham.

On Sunday 26 November North Wales Police received reports of the incident in the Acton area.

Yesterday (Monday 27 November) a man was arrested by armed officers in the Maes y Gornel area of Rhosllanerchrugog on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Police say the male remains in custody where he is being interviewed by officers.

Detective Inspector Dean Jones said: “I would like to reassure residents that this is understood to have been an isolated incident and we have no wider concerns for the safety of the community.

“Anyone with information that may assist our enquiries should contact us via our website or by calling 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers, quoting reference A187168.”
