The inspector for Wrexham town is appealing for information after a male was caught on CCTV “trying car doors”.

Insp Luke Hughes said the incidents took place on the Belvedere Drive area of Wrexham.

In his daily update, Insp Hughes said: “He has a distinctive appearance, I think if you knew him you would recognise his features.

“Of course if it is you and you were just walking along Belvedere Drive “helping” people and just checking they had locked their cars, please come forward so I can thank you for your community spirit.”

If you have any further information on the individual pictured above, please contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number
2000577767.

In the remainder of his daily update, Insp Hughes said…

I’m pleased to say that no new burglaries in the last 24hrs, enquiries are ongoing and thank you for all the information on who, what, why and where. The net is closing.

Quite a busy day for us yesterday, the usual mix of crime, social and health issues. A general review is set out below.

I’ll be rolling up my sleeves later and helping to get our new “town” centre premises clean and tidy, I’ll let you know when we are open and hopefully I’ll be able to meet a few of you soon.

10:30hrs: Call from town centre bank. An elderly male wanted to transfer a significant amount of cash in relation to a crypto currently purchase.

Quite rightly staff are concerned and officers attend and explain that this would highly likely be some form of internet scam.

Transaction halted and will be investigated by Action Fraud & the bank themselves.

Please keep an eye on anyone that would be vulnerable to these sorts of scams. If it sounds too good to be true, then it is.

11:00hrs: Theft of pushbike reported – appears stolen in the town centre on the 8 August and has since been seen being ridden in the town.

Officers to make contact today and obtain picture so we can circulate / recover. I’m not linking this to other matters of late, but I would point out that we are losing quite a few recently. This one was locked, however most others have not been. Please take sensible precautions please.

11:30hrs: Report of intoxicated male on Norman Road – officers attend and he has left, possible a male who caused issues a few days ago and NPT will be issuing him with a community protection notice (CPN) so if this behaviour continues he will likely end up being arrested.

If he needs help for issues we will support but it doesn’t justify causing upset in the local community.

12:16hrs: Officers attend to help an elderly lady who has activated her emergency pendant – all in order on arrival.

13:18hrs: Two shopliftings reported at a convenience store in Borras – one a female who steals a basket of goods having arrived and left in a taxi, the cheek. This happened on the 8 August at 12:30hrs… your taxi? Let me know quote B118229.

The second appears to have happened on the 4 August at 21:20hrs and is a very well-known female, driving a very well know vehicle. I’m sure we will catch up with you soon.

14:00hrs: Report of fly tipping in the town centre, appears to have occurred at around 10am yesterday morning, enquiries ongoing.

18:00hrs: Report of Quad being driven antisocial on the dunks, Caia park.

Not that I need to advise you but this is extremely dangerous and won’t be tolerated, the dunks is used by lots of children and your actions are totally disrespectful.

If we find you we will seize it, please find somewhere safe to ride it where you don’t bother anyone else…

19:17hrs: Three reports of a male riding around Acton on an “off road” bike – no helmet and swerving in and out of traffic – again – totally disrespectful and he will end up hurting himself or more importantly someone else.

Officer will monitor today in case he decides to repeat this dangerous act.

20:36hrs: Report of stolen bike from the area of Little Acton, offence caught on Ring Doorbell (other models are available) I can’t recommend these enough. Officers will be out to review today.

21:15hrs: Concerns for a male who is duly located safe and well.

23:15hrs: Male arrested in the town centre for public order offences and common assault – also found to be wanted for other matters and failing to appear in court… bad day for him… not likely out for a while, shame.

04:00hrs: Male arrested for drink driving, never any excuse, at least a 12 month ban will follow is convicted in court

That’s all for now, stay safe all and please take care.
