Wrexham Glyndwr University 47th in the annual Stonewall Top 100 Employer List

Wrexham Glyndwr University “is thrilled to announce” that it has been placed 47th in the annual Stonewall Top 100 Employer List, increasing its ranking by a phenomenal 133 places following the previous submission.  

The university has also achieved a Gold Employer Award; truly recognising the work that’s been undertaken to support our LGBTQ+ staff, students and the local community.

The ranking and award demonstrate to the wider community that Wrexham Glyndwr University is committed to driving LGBTQ+ inclusivity within their practices and procedures, promoting an inclusive and diverse workplace culture.

The university first submitted to the index in 2018, being placed at that point in 415th place. WGU has increased its ranking and by 368 places within 4 years.

Pete Gibbs, Executive Director of HR said: “We are proud to be named a Stonewall Top 100 Employer.  Achieving 47th position is a huge milestone for us as an institution and to receive a Gold Award really emphasizes the commitment made towards being an inclusive employer and recognises the work that’s been undertaken to support our LGBTQ+ staff, students and the local community.

“Here at WGU we embrace the diversity of our staff and student population and their individual strengths, which supports our community culture, where individuals can flourish and are supported to be themselves.”

Alison Bloomfield, Organisational Development & Diversity Manager added: “The award and ranking illustrates the enthusiasm of our people, in particular our LGBTQ+ Staff Network who have achieved so much in recent years working together to raise awareness, inform policy, educate and advance improvements in relation to LGBTQ+ inclusion.”
