Owain GlyndwrParticipantSarah take a, Sarah take a bow.
Well done on taking Wrexham Athletic out of the National League through all of her hard work and devotion to the team!In today’s PMQs there was:
Sarah Atherton (Con) asks Sunak to join her in congratulating Wrexham, her local football club, on its return to the Football league.
Sunak wishes Wrexham every success, and says Atherton deserves credit for backing them.So lets all give her loads of credit! Well done Sarah, you are a true hero!
The players, Rob, Ryan, devoted fans, community etc. are insignificant compared to what you have done and the PM has praised you for backing them … you are a hero!

katyParticipantShe’s even got herself a new seat in the commons – right behind the front bench. Probably in recognition of her scoring the winning goal to secure promotion.

ClebrynParticipantOh ‘Athletic missed an open goal’.
Her opportunity to ask Sunak about the levelling up money, now twice refused by the Tory Government. Where is it Rishi??????? Why doesn’t Wrexham deserve it???? No I’ll a**e lick.
At least the Council have received the £25 million from Labour Government in Cardiff, and have moved this money from the Eastern Gateway project to the Western Gateway, to progress matters.
Not the ideal way to fill the financial hole left by the tories, but things are moving on.
Very well done the the Football Team and also to Wrexham Rugby who also secured promotion last weekend.April 27, 2023 at 9:53 am #233862
JaneJParticipantThe Eastern Gateway project was defined as being the priority and therefore the funds were needed yet all of a sudden due to failed funding for the Western Gateway the priority changes. It is good that the team is moving up a League but will that now mean Council funding and resources all being thrown at the area around the ground at the expense of other areas.

zingerParticipantWhat were the plans for the Eastern Gateway?

AndrewmackembaileyParticipantNot only achieved success at the Racecourse but our MP managed a ‘success’ in achieving a £48k grant for a project in the village she lives in . That is despite not being on the council that was an integral part of the bid for over 3 years, and spending precisely NO time in the formulation and preparation of the bid !
How does she do it ?May 10, 2023 at 3:13 pm #234363
Owain GlyndwrParticipantWell done Sarah!

wrexviewParticipant“Thanks to this UK Government’s pledge, Wrexham now has 207 new Police Officers. I look forward to continuing to work with our Wrexham City and Rural teams to ensure these new Officers target crime hotspots and crack down on anti-social behaviour. ”
Wrexham now has 207 new police officers ? Is this a true fact ?
May 10, 2023 at 5:37 pm #234379
welchboyParticipantSarah appears to have missed out a few words which would change her statement completely.
According to the Home Office figures North Wales Police has reached the Governments Police Officer Up Lift Target as of April, 2023 having recruited 207. So the figure 207 which she implies has increased the local constabulary is in fact for the whole of North Wales.Other Home Office statistics show that from December 2022 to 1st January, 2023, there was an increase of 213 Police Officers serving in Wales.
This was broken down as follows: South Wales 121, Gwent 47, Dyfed Powys 37, North Wales 08.

AndrewmackembaileyParticipantNot the only words she has missed out in her ‘ report from Westminster’! The bit about Gresford Lake should read ‘ I was glad to write a letter of congratulations AFTER hearing of the success of the bid I had nothing to do with’.
