If the Senedd increases its membership to 96 , that will equate to one MS for every 36500 people living in Wales. The ratio for constituencies in England as of 2019 election was one MP for every 74000 people. Is the extra financial expenditure warranted , or could the money be better spent on other essential services? Many of the 22 County Councils in Wales are struggling to cover the payment of basic service provision. Rather than more administrators we need more money directed to front line workers.

BBC estimates the extra 36 MS’s will cost an extra 18 million pounds , and increase year on year with pay increases. In addition to the extra 36 MS’s pay increases , pay of their administrative support staff, increased IT hardware , and expenses will all also increase annually.

That’s interesting, after Drakeford cancelled free school dinners all summer because there was “no money left”.
It would’ve cost an estimated £15 million.

Apart from the extra costs highlighted by wrexview what about the building? It was never designed for that number of people so it will need changing and those changes will not be cheap. What a crock of **** they are. They just want to be bigger and more grand so they can puff their chests out a bit further.

It’s not just about cost but the calibre of those elected – looking at some of the current ones they would not even get shortlisted for a job in the real world!
