The Wrexham Lager Beer Co, the oldest lager brewery in Great Britain, has secured new listings across its lager and export range in leading supermarkets Asda and Sainsburys Welsh stores.

From May 1 the Wrexham Lager 440ml Export Cans will sit on the shelves of nearly half (43%) of Sainsbury’s’ stores across Wales, whilst the Wrexham Lager 4x pack 330ml Export Bottle and 330ml 12x Pack Lager Bottle will land in over half of (58%) of Asda’s stores in the region, in addition to the Export 330ml bottles already stocked.

These new listings will stock the new look can formats following The Wrexham Lager Beer Co’s new brand identity refresh last month, featuring stronger and brighter colourways across the can format and bottle labels to be more impactful and have greater stand out on shelves.

With country of origin playing a significant role in purchase consideration, the brand has maintained but modernised its brewery and Welsh dragon iconography, while also including new premium dragon embossing to reaffirm a sense of provenance that will resonate with the Welsh audience.

The family run business is continuing to go from strength to strength following the hire of industry specialist James Wright as CEO six months ago.

He said: “Securing these additional listings is fantastic news for the brand as we continue to strengthen our portfolio and we’re pleased it is becoming more widely available.

“We have seen a huge surge in demand for Wrexham Lager following the town’s rise in popularity following Welcome to Wrexham and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow our off-trade channel with our retail partners.”
