Wrexham Set For Month Of Traffic Misery
Wrexham is set for a month of traffic misery less than two months after large parts of the town were gridlocked by roadworks outside the Maelor Hospital.
Croesnewydd Road will once again be the focus of the roadworks from the 19th of March for approximately 4-6 weeks, when Scottish Power will be laying new cables to serve the hospital.
Despite the roadworks taking place in the footway and verges of the road a one way system with diversions will be implemented, council officials have said the move is necessary to protect the workforce and travelling public.
One of Wrexham’s main arteries the A483 will also be hit by single lane closures from 12th March as the North Wales Trunk Road Agency carries out bridge maintenance works at the intersection of the A541 Mold Road and A483 with work expected to take 7 weeks to complete.
Drivers have already had to endure delays this month as a roundabout is installed on Abenbury Road and works are ongoing on the A541 Mold Road until 26th March along with road improvements near Sainsburys on Plas Coch Road set to finish in April.
On our Wrexham.com forums user wrexview started a thread about the series of works, they said: “There seems to be roadworks all over town at present, could it be anything to do with the end of the financial year approaching and spending money before it arrives?”
John Bradbury, Head of Environment Department at Wrexham Council said: “Every effort will be made to ensure that as far as possible, disruption to the road network is kept to a minimum. Unfortunately, some delay will be inevitable during peak morning and evening rush hours and I would urge motorists to consider alternative routes into town or allow additional time for their journey.”
