Firefighter, Grant Purvor, has been rallying his colleagues to find some frills for the event

Wrexham firefighters are busy sorting out what frills to wear as they prepare to take part in Nightingale House Hospice’s Drag Walk.

The firefighters who have previously supported the event are looking forward to being involved again this year and raising much needed funds for the local hospice.

Nightingale House’s Drag Walk is now in its third year and in the past has raised over £30,000.

It is an event designed for men of all shapes and sizes, with the aim of having fun and raising as much money as possible for the hospice.

There is still time for those not yet registered to take part and join the firefighters in what’s shaping up to be another fun-filled event.

The male-only Drag Walk takes place on Sunday 29 April around Wrexham, starting and finishing at Eagles Meadow.

Registration is £10 per person. Contact Nightingale house Hospice on 01978 314 292 or download a registration form at www.nightingalehouse.co.uk/events.

This year alone it will cost £2.54 million to run the hospice, which equates to nearly £7000 per day.

Only 19% of this comes from statutory government sources; only enough to fund the hospice for 69 days.

Therefore it is essential that the hospice raises necessary funds to continue to support Wrexham and surrounding areas and to continue to be able to offer the high quality care and service it has become associated with.
