Wrexham Community Choir is inviting new members to come and sing their hearts out at weekly practices every Tuesday at the Methodist Church in Regent Street.

The choir, formed in 2012, is open to everyone, regardless of age or experience. There is no upper limit to numbers – the more the merrier. There are no auditions, no solos, no need to read music and everyone is invited to turn up and join in. The choir is also keen to welcome new tenors and basses.

Aside from weekly practices, the 100 strong choir has been fortunate to perform at a number of local events and in 2014, they sang at the opening of Splash Magic in Plas Madoc, sang at the St David’s Day celebrations, raised funds for Sparks, performed at the Kaya Festival and also travelled to Poland as guests of the Lutnia Choir in Miedzychod.

Over the next few months, Wrexham Community Choir will be singing at the Wrexham Heritage Day on 4th July, the Llangollen International Eisteddfod on 7th July, the National Street Choir Festival in Whitby on 10th July and at the Erddig Hall Lates on August 13th.

In June, Wrexham Community Choir will be hosting the Lutnia Choir from Poland for four days and will hold a Festival of Song with other local choirs at the Methodist Church on Saturday 27th June and both choirs will sing at half time during the North Wales Crusaders match at the Racecourse on 28th June Wrexham Community Choir will also be looking forward to October 6th when they welcome back musicians from Soweto, Simply Soweto Encha to run a singing workshop and performance..

Wrexham Community Choir’s Co-Founder and Musical Director, Carol Donaldson is a highly regarded choir leader as well as a composer of many years for music for theatre, television and radio, she has run choirs for health with Macmillan’s and the Stroke Association and created in house choirs for business and organisations including Erddig Hall and Moneypenny. Carol was recently the Choir Director on the much talked about Sainsbury’s Christmas 2014 television advert, in July 2014 she conducted 1,000 singers for the 2014 National Street Choirs Festival and is currently the composer and Musical Director of a new musical “Dreamer’s” written by Cathy Crabb and Lindsay Williams which opens at the Oldham Coliseum in June and is expected to sell out.

Carol Donaldson said “We’re delighted Wrexham Community Choir continues to go from strength to strength and I hope people will continue to join us every week to sing their heart out and take part in some of the many exciting opportunities that are coming up over the next few months”
