Wrexham & Clwyd South Held By Labour – General Election 2017

Wrexham and Clwyd South were held by Labour’s Ian Lucas and Susan Elan Jones overnight.

Wrexham had 4 candidates, Ian Lucas – Welsh Labour (17,153 votes), Andrew Atkinson – Welsh Conservatives (15,321 votes), Carrie Harper – Plaid Cymru (1,753 votes), Carole O’Toole – Welsh Liberal Democrats (865 votes). 35,092 people turned out to vote locally, with around 15k not bothering. Labour vote was up 11.7% with 48.9% of the total vote, and Conservatives vote was up 12.1% with 43.7% of the vote.

In Clwyd South there were 5 candidates: Christopher Allen – Plaid Cymru (2292 votes), Jeanette Bassford-Barton – UKIP (802 votes), Simon Baynes – Welsh Conservatives (14,646 votes), Susan Elan Jones – Welsh Labour (19,002 votes), Bruce Roberts – Welsh Liberal Democrats (731 votes).
