Plans to set up suit and interview clothes library in Wrexham for those who need them for a forthcoming job interview, have been unveiled.

The Wrexham Clothing Exchange, which already organises free sewing classes and holds a monthly ‘Swap Not Shop” event, is now inviting the public for help to create a free service to help those who are going for interviews.

It is hoped that the library full of suitable clothes will be in place at the start of the new year, providing people with a free library of clothes and shoes to wear confidently at their interviews.

Lead organiser Sharon Rogers said: ‘We’ve been told at our ‘Swop Not Shop’ events that some of our swappers’ friends are at a disadvantage by being offered an interview but can’t afford the clothes or shoes for it; Meaning that they don’t properly prepare.

“Nobody wants that. We don’t want that. We want job hunters to be confident and ready, so they get the job, thus we’ve decided to set up a clothes library for them.’

“We want to join forces with the public to achieve this faster. Now we don’t want donations of money, we want donations of smart clothes, shoes and accessories.

“We all have smart clothes in our wardrobes that we haven’t worn or not done for ages, please donate them, rather than them going to landfill.

Sharon added: “We’re going to spend some of the surplus funds from our ‘Swop Not Shop’ events on the interview clothing library and we are budgeting some funds made from future events to make the library financially sustainable. If the public helps by donating clothes that will go a long way.”

“If people would like to donate clothes, they can contact us via our facebook group (just type Wrexham Clothing Exchange into the Search Bar) or email [email protected]. We do have a ‘Swop Not Shop’ event this Saturday (December 4th) at the Wrexham Enterprise Hub (the old pebble chippy) if you liked to donate please get in touch first.

And if anyone would like to come to the event, please type Wrexham Clothing Exchange into the search bar of either Eventbrite or Facebook.
