A BMW was left with damage to the front windscreen and the entire rear window smashed.

Three cars had their windows smashed and were left with considerable damage on Mold Road this afternoon.

A man is alleged to have smashed the windows of the cars, which were parked in a lay-by opposite the Racecourse, with a metal pipe shortly after 2pm.

A black BMW was left with the worst damage with its front windscreen smashed in two places and the entire rear window completely shattered.

One eyewitness reported that after smashing the windows the culprit sat on the kerb and waited for police to come and arrest him.

Several local residents helped to clear up the damage in the aftermath of the incident.

Two of the cars left damaged during the incident.
