Wrexham’s Inspector has said there is an ‘ongoing operation’ to tackle the ‘menace’ of off road bikes.

Recently the local policing team released CCTV of one person falling off a bike after trying to kick the wing mirror off a police car, the idiot in question gained worldwide fame has his trousers falling down went viral.

As the daily roundup report explains, three bikes have been taken off the streets this week with the Inspector noting, “Will we be able to stop all future problems? Of course not, but will we start to make them look over their shoulder… I just hope they don’t fall off their little bikes again whilst trying to kick one of my wing mirrors off (still makes me chuckle 😆).”

As usual the full update from Insp Hughes police report can be found below:

Afternoon all 👋🏽,

Bit of a cooler day today, the darker night being quite apparent now and journeys to and from school/work/home are pretty grim. So, big coat on if you are heading out this weekend and essential for the football, I would suggest… 🥶

Right, enough weatherman walking, and more on the world of policing 👮🏽‍♂️.

I came in this morning to see that the night shift had continued the proactive approach we are encouraging. It looks like their Spidey sense had picked up on a car 👀 and when it tried to avoid them, they soon located it.
The driver was arrested on suspicion on drinking driving and having no licence. Whoops… one in custody. He has since been charged and will have to explain himself in court 👍🏽.

We have also been out today continuing to put pressure of the off-road bike menaces 🚔. We had access to the drone team, unmarked vehicles and also unmarked police motorbikes. Three bikes seized so far this week 👏🏽.

This will be an ongoing operation until we reduce the upset these bikes are causing. Will we be able to stop all future problems? Of course not, but will we start to make them look over their shoulder… I just hope they don’t fall off their little bikes again whilst trying to kick one of my wing mirrors off (still makes me chuckle 😆).

So, onto the crime review:

🤔 08:22hrs – Lone worker notification of a ‘man down’ – location given as Wrexham Road, Rhostyllen. All very odd but officers make and discover an automated sensor has tripped in a vehicle, making the monitoring company think that the worker is in distress. All in order.

🚑 08:39hrs – RTC on Jeffreys Road. Two vehicle RTC – ambulance attends, and one casualty taken to hospital for checks.

😠 09:04hrs – Report of charity shop broken into on Lord Street. Rear window smashed and cash taken. Disgraceful. Our NPT staff will be making contact with local shops advising them to take extra precautions while this matter is reviewed.

How can someone target a charity shop? That’s a real low blow. I fully appreciate times are hard, but I know that there are enough services out there to support people if they really need it. Breaking into a charity shop is not excusable.

👮🏾‍♀️ 10:24hrs – Report of nuisance visitors in the area of Bellevue Park at night. Officers will monitor and increase visibility.

🚔 12:17hrs – Shoplifting reported on Hope Street. Female detained by officers and property recovered.

🤦🏽‍♂️ 13:07hrs – Report of “undesirables” checking out a business premises on Box Lane. Officers attend and establish they are the new business owners. Well intentioned call, sorry about the description…

🚗💥 15:55hrs – RTC – Ffordd Llewelyn. Two vehicle collision – recovery required.

👮🏾‍♀️ 20:44hrs – Officers attend to a dispute and concerns in Pentre Gwyn – location known to NPT officers and follow up work ongoing.

👀 22:27hrs – Suspicious incident – males disturbed in the area of Fford Trefaldwyn (off Rhosddu Road). Possibly attempting to tamper with a vehicle, made off when challenged.

✅ 01:08hrs – Report of a missing person – located safe and well.

Have a good weekend all and please take care, if you need anything please give us a call, I promise the officers working absolutely want to do all they can to help you and look after our community.

Luke
