Successful launch for Museum’s Egyptian Exhibit
Wrexham Museum’s new summer exhibition, Writing for Eternity: Decoding Ancient Egypt, is celebrating a very successful launch.
The exhibition, on loan from the British Museum, displays the importance of writing in ancient Egypt, which was a literate culture long before writing reached Europe. From the written evidence which has been retrieved academics are now able to solve mysteries of the ancient civilisation.
These collections are now on display untilSeptember 5th at Wrexham Museum where you can discover the story of ancient Egypt as well.
Nearly 1700 museum-goers have visited the new exhibit since it opened on June 20. There have also been three days where school workshops have taken place helping to educate young pupils in Wrexham of this important part of human history.
Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Communities and Partnerships, said of the exhibit’s success: “It is wonderful that so many people in Wrexham have visited this exhibit and I hope that more will do so in the future. Exhibits like these helps to educate our young people but also shed light on some of human history’s earliest achievements, and I am proud that Wrexham Museum has been able to host such a collection.”
Wrexham Museum is open from Monday to Friday 10am – 5pm and Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday 11am – 4pm, free admission upon entry.
