The Peoples Market in Wrexham Town Centre was evacuated this afternoon following a fire alarm in the premises.

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the Peoples Market at 1:12pm this afternoon.

One crew from Wrexham attended the scene and the incident was a false alarm.

Shoppers were evacuated from the premises, with Ian Bayley tweeting to say: “Alarms going off in the Peoples Market, everyone evacuating. They’re not looking happy standing in the rain.”

During the alarm access into the Peoples Market multi-storey car park was temporarily closed off.

The Peoples Market is now open again for shoppers.
