Beaver Scout Billy Lewis, 7, Cub Scout Harry Booth, 10, Scout Danny Williams, 11 and Explorer Scout Struan Nisbet, 16, all ready to help out.

Scouts across the region are preparing to grab their paintbrushes, garden rakes, rolling pins and litter pickers ready for Scout Community Week from the 14th-20th May.

Groups are looking for projects to help their communities as part of the UK-wide fundraising initiative supported by B&Q.

They can be anything from cleaning up litter to making maps of local parks, or painting fences to hosting a community barbecue.

As well as helping their communities the scouts are hoping to raise much needed funds by members of the public donating via a special website.

The funds will be split between setting up new scout groups and supporting existing sections.

Laura Bentley, an explorer scout from Wrexham, said: “I think it’s a great idea. We’ll get to meet people in our communities showing them what modern scouting is all about, and at the same time provide a useful service and hopefully raise some money too.”

The scouts are asking community projects in Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham that would like some help to get in touch by emailing [email protected] or phoning 07779 272340.
