Runners who like to give their fitness campaign an extra special purpose can now register to sign up to the Nightingale 10k Evening Trail Run, in aid of the hospice.

The Nightingale 10k Evening Trail Run, sponsored by Maelor Foods, will be held on Friday, 3 September in Llandegla Forest and courtesy of Oneplant Adventure – and it’s early evening time is being heralded as the perfect end to the week and an even better start to the weekend.

Although there is an entry fee, the hospice would be thrilled if participants could raise the minimum sponsorship by asking friends and family for a donation that would directly help patients and their families who are living with life-limiting illnesses within our community.

Community and Event Fundraiser Sam Amis said: “It was heart-breaking to have to cancel our much-loved annual fundraisers last year, as our Erddig 10K run was so popular in 2019.

“Now that we are seeing more positive signs of getting one step closer to normality, we cannot wait to host ‘in person’ events once again.

“We expect the demand for entries to be very high as runners enjoy the opportunity to take part in organised events once more.”

Due to current Covid restrictions there will not be the traditional mass run at the start, instead organisers have opted for the race to begin in two waves. Wave 1 at 6pm and Wave 2 at 7pm.

Participants can choose which wave they would like to join when registering. All runners will be timed via a chip in their running number and their time will be sent to them via text message once they complete the race.

Sam added: “This year participants are asked to “RUN 10K TO RAISE A GROUP TARGET OF £10K.” Although we may not be able to start the event all together, we can take on the fundraising target as one team.”

Leah Samuel, of Maelor Foods in Cross Lanes, Wrexham said the company was thrilled to be supporting Nightingale House and sponsoring the 10k Trail Run. She said: “ We are happy to be part of this event and support Nightingale House in its fundraising efforts, particularly after such a difficult time for the charity sector.

“Patients and their families who use the hospice benefit from the amazing facilities and care the hospice provides and as the hospice only receives about 17% of its funding from the government it is reliant on the generosity of its’ local community.”

Jim Gaffney, of Oneplanet Adventure said: “We are delighted to be holding the Nightingale 10k Evening Trail Run at Oneplanet here in Llandegla and we hope that the event will raise much needed funds for patient care at the hospice.”

To register for the Nightingale 10k Evening Trail Run 2021 at Oneplanet Adventure, Coed Llandegla Forest, Ruthin Road, Llandegla, Denbighshire go to www.nightingalehouse.co.uk or call the fundraising team on 01978 314292.
