Restaurant plans for former charity shop will “help to support the local economy”
A former city centre charity shop could soon be converted into a new restaurant.
Plans have been submitted to Wrexham Council for a change of use of the vacant premises at 53 Chester Street.
It has been proposed that the building – which previously housed the Capricorn store – is converted into an eatery.
Blueprint Architectural Services, which have submitted the plans on behalf of the applicant, say that the redevelopment of the property will help to “support the local economy and the client’s business.”
If approved the new restaurant would create three full-time and two part-time jobs.
As part of the redevelopment of the building, the ground floor would house a seating area, along with a bar and kitchen at the rear of the building.
The applicants are proposed an “open bar and grill”, along with a “hidden preparation area and open kitchen area.”
Timber cladding would also be added to the exterior of the building, with the applicants stating: “If left as existing, we are of the opinion that the business will not thrive as it may deter customers from visiting.
“Enhancing the exterior of the building will vastly improve its attractiveness and ensure the business thrives.”
The applicants add: “Supporting this application would assisting in helping the clients business to thrive and develop as they can provide and income from the existing building.
“There are also multiple new developments within Wrexham city centre, some of which are vacant.
“Our proposal ensures that an existing building is made use of, preventing further buildings in the city centre being used.
“We believe the local authority should support this application as we see no justifiable reasons to refuse the application which is to be sited on land currently deemed as commercial.”
The application will be considered for approval by Wrexham Council at a later date.
