Residents asked to renew before September to avoid missing any green bin collections for people living in or visiting the wrexham area

Residents who want to continue having their green bins emptied by Wrexham Council are being asked to renew their collection service by the end of August.

The charge for 2022/23 remains frozen at £25 per green bin per year, and the service runs from Monday, September 5, 2022 until Friday, September 1, 2023.

Anyone who has paid to have their bins collected over the last 12 months will continue to have their garden waste emptied until September 2.

However households who want to continue using the service and want to receive a full 12 months of collections must renew by the end of this month.

As per previous years everyone who signs up will receive a sticker pack with a new sticker, which should be displayed on your bin lid from September.

However residents are being asked not put their new sticker on their bin lid until the new service starts in September. Please continue to display your 2021/22 sticker until that service expires on September 2.

To renew/register to have your green bins emptied visit the Wrexham Council website before September to make your payment online.

It is not possible to pay for the service via cash or cheques – the local authority is unable to accept these payments.

If you no longer want to use the garden waste collection service, green bins can be removed upon request.

In the meantime, make sure your bin remains empty, accessible, but not left out causing an obstruction.

However it may be worth keeping hold of your old garden waste bin for now because, if your garden waste bin has been removed and you change your mind in future, there is a charge for a new one.

Darren Williams, Chief Officer Environment and Technical, said: “We’re asking residents to help us spread the word as we want to try and make sure everyone gets the best value from the service.

“You may have family, friends or neighbours who haven’t realised they will need to renew their green bin before September to avoid missing out on any collections.

“If you’re catching up with friends or relatives, or you see any neighbours in passing who use the service, please check that they realise they need to renew. Thanks.”

“The easiest way to pay for the service is online at If it isn’t possible for you to pay online you can call Streetscene to make a card payment, but you are likely to experience a wait if you do so.

“We highly recommend paying for the service online where possible.”
