Renewals for 2021/22 garden waste collection will open to residents later this month.

This year’s subscription scheme will run from Monday, August 30 2021 until Friday, September 2 2022

Residents who use the service or want to subscribe are being asked not to do so until the end of the month, with Monday June 28 being the earliest date you can pay in advance.

Anyone who tries to pay for this service online before June 28 will be signing up to the 2020/21 service, which closes at the end of August.

Charges will remain at £25 per bin per year

The introduction of the garden waste collection service was delayed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As a result Wrexham Council extended all subscriptions until August 31, 2021.

Residents who renew the service will be issued with a new sticker, which will need to be displayed clearly on your bin lid to ensure collections. Please allow at least 10 working days to receive your new sticker pack from the date you renew.

Darren Williams, Chief Officer Environment and Technical, said: “We are pleased to be able to freeze the cost of the service at £25 per green bin per year, which is less than many other authorities in England and Wales.

“Renewals will begin from Monday, June 28, and the best and most convenient way to pay for the service will be online at www.wrexham.gov.uk/gardenwaste.

“If this isn’t possible, you will be able to call 01978 298989 to make a card payment. However, we must stress again, please don’t attempt to pay for this service until renewals open on June 28. Thanks.”

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council added: “Last year, we had a number of customers who attempted to pay for the service by sending cash and cheques to us.

“We must reiterate that we are unable to accept these payments.”
