Gwersyllt North has a new councillor this evening, as Phil Rees topped the vote in the ward today.

A by-election was triggered last month after a councillor who was elected in 2017, announced in January that he would be resigning from the role.

Eight candidates stood for election in the ward

517 votes were cast, well down on the 708 last time around.

Martyn Davies – Independent 51
Helen Hay – Independent 19
Graham Kelly – Welsh Liberal Democrats 41
Jeremy Richard Kent – Welsh Conservative Party 78
Bernie McCann – Independent 43
Colin Powell – Welsh Labour 87
