Wrexham town centre was busy this afternoon with people either taking part in, or watching the first St David’s Day parade in two years.

The parade was led by the Cambria Band and took on the now traditional route around the town centre before returning to Queen’s Square, with performances and choirs.

The popular event, organised in association with Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam and Wrexham Council usually draws huge crowds each year but had been paused in-person due to the pandemic.

Wrexham Council Leader Mark Pritchard said, “I was delighted that we had a fantastic turnout, it was pleasing to see so many people, and finally meet
people face to face – we’ve missed the atmosphere with COVID.”

“Every year this event goes from strength to strength. I’d like to thank the schools, the children, the parents and everybody who came along and obviously the Cambria Band for their fantastic work that they do supporting us.

“It was a really good day for Wrexham, and obviously a celebration for Wales.”
